About Scottsville Family

A magazine rooted in community, created for the families who call the tri-county area home.

Why This Magazine Exists

Scottsville Family was born from a simple belief: the families of Albemarle, Buckingham, and Fluvanna counties deserve a publication that truly reflects their lives. Not a big-city parenting magazine with advice designed for suburban households. Not a generic regional publication that treats our community as an afterthought. Something made right here, for the people who live here.

As a mother of four raising my family in Scottsville, I know this community from the inside. I know the rhythms of the school year, the way summer stretches out along the James River, the way fall transforms the foliage into something breathtaking, and the way neighbors show up for each other at Halloween on Valley Street and Holiday Happenings at Canal Basin.

This is a magazine about that life. About the milestones and the ordinary Tuesdays. About the local businesses that keep this community thriving, the teachers who show up every day, the farmers and tradespeople and coaches who make this a place worth staying.

Scottsville Family publishes monthly, distributed free throughout Albemarle, Buckingham, and Fluvanna counties. We are independent, locally owned, and deeply committed to this community.
